Lisa Wade MSW, RSW
Lisa started AHH Wellness in 2018 as her private practice. She is a clinical social worker with a focus on mental health & addictions. Lisa has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. Lisa has additional training in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) from the University of Denver and the Institute for the Human Animal Connection. She is also certified in Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) through the Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association (Eagala). Other training includes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Informed Practice.
Lisa is very active and passionate about developing standards of practice for professionals who include animals in therapy and counselling. She is an executive member of the Animal Assisted Therapy in Counselling Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and has presented on AAT and EAT to Schools of Social Work and National professional associations. Lisa has recently joined the National Standards Council of Canada's Animal Assisted Services Technical Committee creating National Standards for Animal Assisted Services in Canada.
Lisa is pictured with Louie who is an AHH Wellness Canine Team Member. While Louie is a happily retired therapy dog he continues to provide assistance through his mentorship program for new therapy dogs. What a good boy.
